'Hungary and Poland are two eternal oaks. Each of them shot up a separate and distinct trunk, but their roots, widely scattered in the ground, are intertwined and knitted invisibly. Hence the existence and vigour of one is the condition of the other’s life and health.' - Stanisław Worcell (1849)

The concept of the Circling Roots group exhibition has been inspired by this quote. The simile describes the way trees communicate with one another through their connecting roots below the surface. This below surface ‘social network’, which is nearly 500 million years old, has become known as the ‘Wood Wide Web’.The exhibition wishes to transfer the ‘message in the bottle’: ‘We must follow the lead of trees. As they connect, humans shall do so too.’We would like to present the artworks of Polish-Hungarian artists whose works explore human relationships and seek to establish a universal dialogue while connecting different cultural disciplines. Through creation, our artists surpass both personal and universal boundaries.

The exhibition is on display from May 23th till June 30th, 2022 at the Art Salon Contemporary, Budapest

Exhibition is sponsored by: Waclaw Felczak Alapítvány
